NEW DELHI, INDIA, 17th – 18th NOVEMBER 2011 – The Indian FMCG sector is the fourth largest sector in the economy with a total market size in excess of $13.1 billion. It has a strong MNC presence and is characterized by a well-established distribution network, intense competition between the organized and unorganized segments and low operational cost.
Availability of key raw materials, cheaper labor costs and presence across the entire value chain gives India a competitive advantage. The FMCG market is set to treble from $11.6 billion in 2003 to $33.4 billion in 2015.
The 1st India FMCG Supply Chain & Operations Management Summit was conducted on the 17th and 18th of November, 2011 in the Hilton Hotel, Janakpuri, New Delhi.
Among the notable speakers, Mr. Aroon Aggarwal, ABC Consultants gave the delegates a brief overview of the current prevailing trends in the FMCG sector in India. His presentation also touched on the current hiring trends in the FMCG sector, the kind of people who currently work in the FMCG sector, and dealt with the changing skill sets that are required in the FMCG sector in today’s economy. He concluded his speech with a brief discussion on the global outlook of the FMCG sector
Another notable speaker at the conference, Mr. Ravi Kumar, the Regional Lead Supply (South Asia) for Reckitt Benckiser, touched base on many interesting aspects. He spoke about maximising returns, the current realities of the supply chain and on how technology can be a great enabler in achieving an efficient supply chain. He also spoke about the Great Indian Consumerism movement, summing it up in an emphatic statement, “ India is one of the most happening places across the globe right now”. He ended his presentation by advising the delegates that this was the time to think differently
Furthermore, Mr. Ujjwal Mukhopadhyay, Head of Supply Chain for Avon India also presented at the conference and he spoke about the innovation and innovative approaches infusing supply chain sustainability. A large aspect of his presentation was based on the social, environmental and economical influences on bearable, viable and equitable approaches towards supply chain management.

Adding to the list of outstanding speakers at the event was Mr. Jasjit Sethi, CEO, TCI Supply Chain solutions who gave a very interesting presentation on how to benchmark your company with the aspects of logistics and supply chain operations.
