Networking with Industry Leaders at China's Premier and Most Industrious Pipeline Event!
BEIJING, China, 15-16 April 2010 – China's oil & gas pipeline is expected to reach a total mileage of more than 50,000 km within the next ten years to meet growing energy needs. In addition to the 60,000 km length of pipeline already in existence, this great expansion plan will bring massive business opportunities to all industry players. In the meantime, the oil & gas pipeline industry, as an important infrastructure, is reaching a new stage in pipeline optimization and safety.
With focus on 'constructing the safest advanced pipeline', Noppen's 2010 China Pipeline Summit, which was supported by the International Pipeline and Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA), International Gas Union and Pigging Products & Services Association; took place on the 15-16 of April, 2010 in Beijing and brought together the most prestigious leaders from around the world to explore methods for improving pipeline safety and optimization. It allowed both speakers and attendees to hear and exchange best practices from top experts and to discover new strategies and technological solutions that can be taken away and applied to individual businesses.
Keynote speakers at the event were Susan Miller, Vice President, International Business Development, Enbridge International Inc., who presented on North American pipeline construction, infrastructure expansion drivers and challenges facing the industry; and Yang Jianhong, Deputy Director, Oil & Gas Pipeline Project Planning Institute, China Petroleum and Petrochemical Engineering Institute, conveyed recommendations to ensuring safety measures of China's gas pipeline supply. SINOPEC Consulting noted the conference provided a"formal meeting [environment] and [consisted of] rich content with a definite value."Other influential speakers at the event were Zhu Wenda, Deputy General Manager, CNOOC Gas & Power Group Pipeline Center, who spoke on the study of digital pipeline technology, and Juan Arzuaga, Secretary General, IPLOCA who spoke on "The Road to Success". This included an overview of IPLOCA's novel construction initiative and search of successful pipeline projects. Natural Gas Pipeline Co., Ltd., Shandong Province "thanked [Noppen] for the wonderful speeches given by the organizations and experts."
Bogdan Zbyszewski, Director of Global Marketing Operations and Product Services and Ken Fogh, Technical Director, ICAT Industries Inc. gave a joint speech on ICAT's experience with pipeline rehabilitation and coating systems in various environments, which was very well received. Pierre Fillet, Chairman and CEO, Trapil presented on ensuring pipeline integrity including pipeline maintenance, ultrasonic technology–XTraSonic and future methods and tools; and David Zhou, Xtralis China spoke on the application of VESDA early warning smoke detection technology in oil & gas pipelines. China Petrochem acknowledged the event was "compact, had powerful organization and good effect." Another notable speaker was Wang Baojian from ALLU Finland OY who presented on environmental and economical screener crusher usage in pipeline construction.
Prominent speakers at the event included Feng Bin, Vice Director, China Petroleum Pipeline Scientific Research Institute who spoke on the development of long-distance oil & gas pipeline projects and the demand for pipeline and welding technology; Zhou Yan, China Petroleum Pipeline Company Technology Center who presented on the technology progress and best practice of oil & gas pipeline safety warning systems and from PetroChina Beijing Huayou Natural Gas Co., Ltd, Dong Shaohua gave a presentation on the advancement of China's pipeline construction and integrity management including the development of overseas pipeline integrity management. Tianjin Gas Engineering Design Institute commented that the event had "a comprehensive understanding of China's and the world's gas pipeline construction."
Other topics discussed included regional gas network safety operation and construction and a review and forecast of oil & gas pipeline transportation in China.
