Delivering Products to China's Expanding Railway Market!
NANNING, CHINA, 02-03 SEPTEMBER 2010 – China continues to expand its already massive rail system in order to become the world's largest rail network. According to the Ministry of Railway, by 2012 China's railway investment will reach 2190 billion RMB, which includes an 823 billion RMB investment in 2010. With 242 major projects under construction in 2010, this expansion will bring extensive business opportunities to all industry players.
The China Advanced Railway Technology Congress, co-organized by the Railway Construction Office of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Noppen, took place on 02-03 September 2010 in Nanning, China, with support from the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance of Way Association and Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association of Spain. At this summit, over 70 government officials, industry leaders, solution providers and experts from the rail industry came together to explore advance technologies for Chinese rail expansion and to update on the latest rail projects.
The conference opened with a presentation on the railway development plan in the Nanning region by Yi Huaru, Deputy Director, Office of Railway Construction, Guangxi Autonomous Region and Deputy Director of Nanning Railway Administration. Keynote speakers at the event included Sun Wei, Project Director, Integrated Transport Department, NDRC who is very well known in the industry. She gave an expert overview of the railway industry “Going Out” strategy. Tang Xiaoping, Project Director, Guoxin Tendering Group gave a thorough insight into China’s railway tendering process and gave excellent suggestions to solution providers. One of the most popular speakers at the event was Torsten Tornow, Chief Engineer Electrification, Siemens Limited China who shared his vast experience in China’s railway electrification. Prominent speakers at the event included Prorail's Strategy and Business Development Manager, Jeroen Wiercx who introduced the rail wind concept in Europe. Attendees were very interested and asked a lot of questions. Thomas Thorin, CEO of T. Thorin, gave a presentation on the best practices of switch point heating. He used a video to present his services and gauged a lot of interest in his product from attendees. Norhaimi Mohd Noor, Director of Development Regulatory Division, Department of Railways, Malaysia gave an interesting overview of Malaysia's railway development plan. On day one a panel discussion was held with Shen Hao, CSR; David Shipley, Managing Director of CSRE Limited and CSR European Representative; and Pang Ming from Easyway on the topic of high speed railway development and the application of new technology. Other topics discussed included Chinese railway equipment in the European market, CSRE Limited; efficient railway communications by Nokia Siemens Network China; large deformation control of under ground tunnels, Shijiazhuang Tiedao University; and China – ASEAN Railway System – a case study on the unification of Nanning to Singapore Railway by the Research Institute of National Economy, Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences.
