HUHHOT, CHINA, 11-12 NOVEMBER 2010 – The coal chemical industry is continuously developing in China. With ample coal resources, a lack of oil and natural gas and in addition the increasingly serious global energy crisis, China has been required to focus on the coal chemical industry. According to NDRC, the development of China's coal chemical industry creates great opportunities for many companies and investors intent on engaging in the production of coal or coal-based products, production of chemical equipment and engineering, supplying gases and catalysts, and the supply of related technology. Rich coal reserves make the Huhhot region one of the key power suppliers for China’s Northeast Power Grid, the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Power Grid and China's neighboring country, Mongolia.

Following the success of the 5th China Advanced Coal Chemical Summit and World CTL 2010 Conference, Noppen held our exclusive 6th China Advanced Coal Chemical Summit on 11-12 November 2010 in Huhhot, Inner Mongolia, China. This exclusive industry-leading event, co-organized by the People's Government of Huhhot Municipality, was attended by over 150 energy authorities, senior directors and technicians from China's coal and power groups, and clean coal project developers from across China. Discussions covered topics such as China's newest industrial policies, advanced technology solutions for plant growth, carbon sequestration, and the most up-to-date progress reports on major projects across China. “Obtained excellent results” CNOOC

Day one morning opened with welcome speech's from Ruicheng Guo, Deputy Secretary General of Huhhot Municipal Government, and Shaoqiang Li, Deputy Director of Huhhot Development and Reform Commission. Dr. Pu Yufei, Deputy Director, State Information Center made the first presentation on day one speaking on the Twelfth Five-year Plan and development of the coal chemical industry. Day two was opened with a speech on low-carbon technology application by Xu Dingming, Counselor, The State Council; Chairman, National Energy Expert Consultative Committee; and Former Secretary of the Energy Bureau of NDRC. Key speaker Feng Xiaoting, Chief Consultant, China National Chemical Economic & Technical Development Center and Dean, Coal Chemical Engineering Research and Design Institute of Jiangsu gave a presentation titled "Innovation——Soul of the Advanced Coal Chemical Technology" that received very high praise. He talked about China's long-term energy development plan and also the long-term coal chemical industry development plan. He introduced several new technologies in this area. Mr. Xiaoting has a very strong reputation in the coal chemical industry and many of the delegates know him and his work. Prominent speaker Jiaxin Wang, Deputy General Manager of Shenhua Coal Liquefaction Co Ltd presented on Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Project construction and commissioning situation. It's the world’s first and largest coal-to-olefins project, one of the 9 NDRC approved advanced coal chemical demonstration projects, and the only approved coal-to-olefins project during the Eleventh Five-year Plan. Industry leaders introduced their most up-to-date technology information. From ENN Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd., Vice President, Dr. Zhenqi Zhu presented on "Algal Biofixation and Multi-products Technologies"covering the most advanced technologies and initiatives that were new to most of the delegates. This new clean energy generated a strong interest at the event. Mr. Kosmas Galtos, CEO of Environmental Clean Technologies Limited, introduced their advanced coldry technology and talked about its benefits for China. They have formed some strategic relationships in Vietnam, Poland, Indonesia, India and Greece, and they are now actively seeking partners in China. The Chinese delegates expressed interest in this technology and asked many detailed questions during the one-to-one business meetings. Notable speakers at the event also included Chen Guifeng, Director, China Coal Research Institute who presented on the opportunities and challenges of clean coal technology in carbon emission reduction; An Fu, Director, Economics & Development Research Institute, Sinopec spoke about the opportunities and challenges of coal-ethylene glycol; from Synfuels China, Cao Liren gave an overview of China's independent intellectual property rights & the progress of synthetic oil demonstration plant development; and Jiang Jiansheng, Deputy General Manager, Inner Mongolia Yitai CTO Co., Ltd. introduced the Yitai CTL Demonstration Project. Other speakers at the event came from Lurgi GmbH; Inner Mongolia University; Institute of Clean Coal Technology, East China University of Science and Technology; and New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. A government welcome dinner was held on the afternoon of day one. Huisheng Lv, Deputy Mayor of Huhhot Municipal Government and several other senior officials from Huhhot Municipal Government and Huhhot Development and Reform Commission attended the dinner along with a select few high profile delegates. "It was a very good opportunity to communicate with others" Total Petrochemicals. On the third day of the event, a delegation of 45 visited Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Project Base. Deputy General Manager, Jiaxin Wang of Shenhua showed them around the plant and also the central control room. Delegate fromTotal Petrochemicals said "This project is really amazing and it is unbelievable that the project was built in 2 years."
