SHANGHAI, CHINA, 24-25 FEBRUARY 2011 – High demand for oil and gas energy imports has led the government to set up the China Oil and Gas Ship Fleet. Experts estimate that by 2012, the main shipping companies in China will invest more than 171 billion USD to construct 65 VLCCs and 50 LNG vessels. Supported by Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd., the China VLCC & LNG Vessel Tech Congress 2011, hosted in Shanghai on February 24th and 25th, brought together senior officials, presidents and technical directors from government bodies and industry associations, with top-level executives from major oil and gas companies, shipping companies, ship management companies, shipyards, heavy industry companies and ship design & research institutes. With over 150 attendees, at the event experts and industry leaders discussed the newest industrial policies and technologies for VLCC & LNG vessel design, construction and operation and sought to find the best solution providers.
