China has a large beer and beverage market resources and consumption potential with beer and beverage production and sales increasing year by year. Since 2002, China is the world’s largest beer production country and has been ranked first in the world in 10 years. Similarly, China’s beverage industry is growing rapidly with the good momentum of development. In 2011, China’s total beverage sales income reached 1176.9 billion RMB and a growth of 33.19%, higher than the industry average. At the same time, the structure of the industry has been developed to large-scale, information, technology, and diversification of product. China’s beer and beverage industry need to find a road of sustainable development and adapt to the trend of development under the background of this changing market structure.
In this context, to strengthen international beer and beverage cooperation and to improve the research technology of beer and beverage industry in China, 2nd China Brew and Beverage Technology Innovation Congress 2013 was held in Shanghai on September 5th -6th. Senior officials and presidents from government bodies and industry associations along with top-level executives, technical directors, project leaders from major breweries, beverage processing and manufacturing companies, marketing companies and other drink and food R&D institutes attended this event. Experts and industry leaders discussed the development trends of the global brew and beverage industry, analyzed the policies and regulations of safety in production, exchanged the core technologies and best solutions for cleaner production, energy saving, emission reduction and product diversification.
