5th China Commercial Vehicle Summit

LNoppen hosted the 5th China Commercial Vehicle Summit at Jinan, China on 11th – 12th July, 2013. 2012 saw the rise of China to reach the feat of largest producer of commercial vehicles and its share of total global production reached 44 percent in the same year. With improvement of lethargic conditions, the market is expected to recover in 2013.

Following in the wake of an outstanding 4th Commercial Vehicle Summit, the 5th China Commercial Vehicle Summit served to deepen its delegates’ understanding of the new development trends and policies of the commercial vehicle industry, discussion on copying strategy of implementing the new emission standard, exchange of core R&D and manufacturing technologies and sharing the exclusive case study on corporate strategic transition.

Day 1 began with Mr. ZHANG Haibo, Deputy Mayor of Jinan Municipal Government and Mr. YU Youde, Deputy General Manager of SINOTRUK who extended a warm welcome to all the attendees to the conference.

Mr. YU Weijiang, Director of Vehicle Management Section, Road Transportation Department, Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China was the first speaker of the two day conference where he gave a draft image on the Technology and Policy Management Trends of Road Freight Vehicles with his presentation. Next, Mr. TANG Dagang, Director of Vehicle Emission Control Center of State Environmental Protection Administration gave a presentation on ‘Emission Reduction of Diesel Engine Vehicles’. Mr. Christian KUNKEL, Senior Advisor of Scania China Strategic Center made an excellent presentation on ‘Simple Present, Diverse Future — How Demands of Efficiency Will Change the Way We Transport Ourselves and Goods’ which was an eye opener as he put forward new concepts of Transportation Industry.

Post tea break, Mr. NIE Ligang, Product Planning Institute Director of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group R&D Center gave a speech on MAN-Technology, New Generation of Heavy Duty Truck. His presentation provided indepth understanding on the products and technologies of SINOTRUK. Mr. YUN Mian, Operation Director of The Leader Logistics Corporation and the Vice Chairman of Chinese Logistics Academic Society was one of the chairmen and gave an exclusive speech on ‘The Change and Expectations of Logistics Vehicles Demands in New Economic Era’ where through his presentation, the audience benefitted with detailed information about the needs of logistics companies.

Mr. ZHOU Honbo, General Manager of Foton Zhike IT Tech Co Ltd presented on the Connected Vehicles and Services-Oriented Automakers where he focused on the Internet of vehicles market and values of application, Fonton’s technology platform, big data and CEM outlook. Mr. JIANG Xuefeng, Deputy Senior General Manager of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Technical Center presented on ‘Technology Development Trend of Commercial Vehicles’. During his speech, attendees learnt more information on vehicle platform strategy, energy saving & environment protection strategy, safety technology strategy, driving environment strategy and transport efficiency technology strategy.

Day 2 saw Mr. MA Zengrong, Secretary-General of China Automobile Logistics Association of CFLP, China Logistics Equipment Specialized Committee of CFLP, Deputy Executive Director of Cold Chain Logistics Specialized Committee, Secretary-General of China Logistics Technology Association presented on Development of Logistics Industry & Market of Trucks. Mr. FU Xingguo, Deputy Chief Engineer of PetroChina Petrochemical Research Institute, gave a presentation on ‘Current Status of China’s Fuel Quality and Future Plans’ where he drew attention on the effect of improving the fuel quality in China. Mr. CHAI Yongquan, Chief Engineer of Cummins Emission Solutions (China) Co. spoke on Diesel Aftertreatment Technologies and Future Trends.

Other noteworthy speakers of the conference were Mr. Robert EARLEY, Transport Program Manager of Clean Air Asia Center was another chairman of the conference who presented on the ‘Policy and Action for Green Freight Programs in China and Abroad’. Mr. PANG Jianzhong, R&D Director of Baotou Beiben Heavy-Duty Truck Co. Ltd. Spoke on ‘The Frame’s Optimization and Designing of BEIBEN’s New Type Truck’. Mr. ZHU Yi, an expert from China Automotive Technology & Research Center Auto Standardization Research Institute helped in understanding ‘Development of Standards and Technical Regulations in Foreign Commercial Vehicle Market’. He is also worked as the day 2 chairman.

Some of the highlights of the conference were the Mayor meeting on day 1 and also panel discussions were arranged with one strategy panel discussion and one technical panel discussion. These panels provided a platform for the panelists and audience to exchange their views and opinions. There was also a site tour arranged on day 2 to SINOTRUK & SKF. Also, Sinotruk and few other sponsors accepted the onsite interview with Noppen’s media partner.

Also, DÜRR EcoClean GmbH, silver sponsor, arranged their Key Account Manager, Mr. Dieter KIRCH to make a speech on Technical Cleanliness in Commercial Powertrain Production and speech sponsor, Mr William CHOW, General Manager Assistant, CPRO, Tianze Information Industry Inc, presented on ‘The Aftermarket Services Based on Mobile Internet’.

Some sponsors also exhibited their newest products to all the delegates and had an opportunity to have onsite in-depth discussion with the leading commercial vehicle manufactures and logistics companies.
