2010 New Energy Vehicle Technology & Investment Congress

TIANJIN, CHINA, 02-03 SEPTEMBER 2010 – China is the largest car market and auto-producing country in the world and it is expected to also become the largest new energy vehicles manufacturer very soon. With major government support of alternative vehicle technology and investment, there will be massive opportunities in the market for years to come.

The 2010 New Energy Vehicle Technology & Investment Congress, co-organized by Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Administrative Committee and Noppen took place on 02-03 September 2010 in Tianjin, China. At this summit, over 120 government officials, industry leaders, solution providers, project developers and experts from China's automotive industries discussed new governmental support policies, technical advances in production as well as provided a detailed overview of the most up-to-date project developments across China.

On the morning of day one a meeting was held with officials from Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone & Tianjin Airport Economic Area including Zhang Jinwei, Vice President of the Administrative Committee; Chen Shaowang, Director of Economic Development Bureau; Yu Mei, Vice Director of Economic Development Bureau; Bao Jian, Vice Director of Comprehensive Economy Bureau and Ji Lin, Vice Director of Technology Bureau. Opening speech at the congress was then given by Zhang Jinwei. Fraenkische Pipe Systems Co Ltd: "The information was very relevant".

Keynote speakers at the event were Xu Changming, Director of Information Resource Development Department, State Information Centre who give a very informative presentation on the outlook of new energy vehicle development and Wang Zidong, Director, National 863 Power Battery Test Center, China North Vehicle Research Institute who spoke in detail about the development of power battery industrialization in domestic China. Both speakers we highly praised at the event for giving such useful and informative speeches. Brilliance Jinbei Automobile Co Ltd: "The topic arrangement was good". Other influential speakers included Xie Zicong from China Potevio-CNOOC Charging Station Program who presented new views on the EV Business Model of charging infrastructures, a topic seldom discussed; and Dr. Chen Yilong, Director of Asia Pacific & Chief Representative (China) of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) promoted international cooperation for new energy vehicle standards focusing on supply chain which is a new concept for domestic manufactures. Shenlong Company: "The organization and speaker topics were satisfactory".

Industry leaders introduced their most up-to-date case study and technology information. Chongqing Chang'an New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. Described their case study on new energy vehicle development; KAIST introduced their case study on the topic of on-line electric vehicle technology; Hiroyuki Aoki, Chief Secretary, CHAdeMO Association and Senior Manager, International Relations, Tokyo Electric Power Company conveyed the desirable characteristics of public quick chargers; and from ProRail Jeroen Wiercx made a notable contribution to the panel discussion about inductive charging. VDA – QMC:"The organization was well thought-out and people welcoming".

Other topics discussed included a German view of technology innovations for a clean environment and CO2 – reduction by Verband der Automobiiindustrie e. V. (German Association of the Automotive Industry); construction of the Smart Grid and promoting the development of electric vehicles, State Grid Energy Research Institute and electric drive system of eclectic vehicles and hybrid eclectic vehicles by the Institute of Electrical and Automation Engineering, Tianjin University. Speakers also came from Tianjin Santroll Electric Science & Technology Co., Ltd., Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. And the China Greentech Initiative. LanDe New Energy Vehicle Technology and Development Co Ltd : "Good organization, excellent speakers, made lots of contacts and have aspirations to attend future events".

On the afternoon of day two over 30 delegates took part in a site tour to the powertrain solutions company, Tianjin Santroll Electric Science & Technology Co., Ltd. The delegates showed great interested in the test-drive activity and the pure electric cars. It was a very successful ending to the event.
