Capitalizing on the Growing Opportunities in China's Petrochemical Market!
TIANJIN, CHINA, 02-03 DECEMBER 2010 – According to ethylene industry development goals for "restructuring and revitalizing the Petrochemical Industry ", China will form 11 ethylene bases of a million-ton capacity in the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, and the Bohai Rim regions. In the "Twelfth-Five Year" period, the equipment market scale will reach 630 billion RMB. By 2020, China's production capacity will reach 27.519 million tons/year.
After the tremendous success of the previous events, Noppen held their exclusive 5th Annual China Petroleum & Chemical Summit 2010 on 2-3 December 2010 in Tianjin, China. Attended by over 100 major petrochemical companies, chemical companies, engineering companies, top research institutes, project owners and operators from across China, discussions illustrated China's newest industrial policies, advanced technology solutions for petroleum & chemical technology, project management, and the most up-to-date progress reports on major projects across China.
Opening speech on day one was given by Deng Yusong, Director, Research Institute of Market Economy Development, Research Center for the State Council. He discussed current policies and the market in great detail, analyzing the prospects of China's refined oil market; the influence of short-term punctuation on the macro-economy of the refined oil market and pricing mechanisms. Jiang Xinmin, Deputy Director, Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission spoke about the "Prospects of China's Petroleum and Chemical Industry in the Twelfth-Five Year Plan." He illustrated the systemic reform and policy adjustments to the China petrochemical market, for example the influence of the circulation system reform on the market; the new supply and demand situation; and the competition conditions' great impact on both the market pattern and policy. In addition, Xu Jun, Director, Division of Resources and Environment , Department of Social Development, Ministry of Science and Technology reported on "Advanced Technology and Oil & Gas Exploration" conveying to us know not only the important points of the "Twelfth-Five Year Plan" but also the future trend and demand of oil & gas exploration in the next five years. "Very good event"Sinopec Corp, Research Institute of Economics and Technology
One of the most popular speakers at the event was Feng Xiaoting, Chief Adviser, China National Chemical Economic & Technical Development Center and Chief Adviser of China Chemical Industry Productivity Center. He presented a lot of new ideas, and his analysis on the future of coal chemical, petrochemical, and biochemical was very unique. The main point of his presentation was a reflection on the role of substitutes or supplements for the petrochemical industry in China. He emphasised that innovation is at the heart of new-type coal chemical technology and should be characterized by low-carbon, low energy consumption and environment-friendly principles. Another popular speaker was Yu Zhi'an, Deputy Director for Committee of Construction Project Management, China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association. He reported on the development prospects of coal-to-olefin products in China and China's coal reserves. He then analyzed the technical development of the domestic new coal chemical industry and gave his own opinion on the competitiveness of coal-to-olefin. "Good conference, programs, and a first-rate audience. Keep going in the same way"Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals (FRIPP)
There were many interesting technology updates at the event. Shen Jianghan, Deputy Director, SYN Energy Technology Co DICP gave an in-depth analysis of Dalian's Methanol To Light Olefin (DMTO) technology. He stated that using MTO has many advantages such as smaller impact on existing equipment leading to fewer modifications to existing plants; and MTO can be utilized to get additional capacity in plants that otherwise cannot be expanded. Wang Jilong, Region Sales Director, Riello S.p.A illustrated Riello Burners product growth and challenges faced; and from SIEBTECHNIK GmbH, Managing Director, Horst Dietschreit described their solid/liquid separation technology. Other notable speakers at the event included Dr. Larry Song of Nexant China who spoke on development trends of China's petrochemical market and showcased new technologies; Li Husheng, China Academy of Safety Science and Technology (CASST) shared many case studies on basic countermeasures for safety production and accident prevention of the Twelfth-Five Year Plan; and from the China Petroleum Planning Institute, Dr. Wei Haiguo analyzed the current status of China's fuel ethanol industry and its development trends.
On day two was a panel discussion on the "Integration of China's Large Petrochemical Industry and Future Trends". Moderated by Dr. Larry Song of Nexant China the panel included Guan Minghua, Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals (FRIPP); Hui Zhang, Terex Crane; and Feng Xiaoting. Main points discussed were whether petrochemical productivity is over-capacity in China, will coal chemical and biochemical replace petrochemical in the future, and what are the opportunities and challenges we may face? It is expected that in 2010, China's main petrochemical products will account for 1/3 of total global consumption. In the next few years, the national strategy will aim to stimulate domestic demand and revitalize planning and implementation of the petrochemical industry. It is expected petrochemical will still be the main trend long into the future. After the panel was a site visit to Tianjin Binhai Hi-tech Industrial Development Area and the John Crane factory. Attended by 30 delegates they learnt the history of John Crane and got a products introduction. The visit was professional and well-organized and the delegates were very satisfied. "I want to express my sincere congratulations for the vision that Noppen has shown by staging this conference"China Chemical Industry Productivity Center
