YANTAI, SHANGDONG PROVINCE,CHINA, 4-5 July, 2013.
On October 24, 2012, State Council Premier WEN Jiabao presided over an executive meeting of the State Council, which once again discussed and approved the 2011-2020 Nuclear Power Safety Plan and 2011-2020 Mid and Long term Nuclear Power Development Plan. China has increased it’s capacity with the construction of a nuclear power plant. According to the prediction of WNA, it is likely that China’s installed capacity of nuclear power is likely to reach and even exceed 67.3 GWE and 135.7 GWE in 2010 and 2030 respectively.
After the tremendous success of the previous event, Noppen has successfully delivered the 8th Annual China Nuclear Power Congress in Yantai, Shandong, a featured venue for nuclear power industry in China. Noppen’s 8th Annual China Nuclear Power Congress aimed to provide a strategic opportunity for key industry professionals from China and abroad to network and explore cooperation and business opportunities.
With support from major Chinese nuclear power plants owners, as well as top nuclear power plants design and engineering companies, Noppen hosted the 8th Annual China Nuclear Power Congress in Yantai, Shangdong, on the 4th-5th July 2013. Attended by over 140 prominent industry leaders, this congress illustrated China’s latest industrial policies, advanced technology solutions for nuclear power industry, and the most up-to-date reports on major nuclear power projects in China.
Keynote Speakers of the events included CHAI Guohan, Chief Engineer, Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center, Ministry of Environmental Protection, XIAN Chunyu Chief Designer of ACPR1000+, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group; Vice President, China Nuclear Power Design Company of Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, YAN Jingquan, Vice President Chief Engineer, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research& Design Institute, XIN Tianmin, Deputy Chief Engineer, Director of Chief Engineer Office, Deputy Chief Designer of ACP1000,China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd, Bruno MARQUIS, Head of Engineering and Procurement, EDF Shenzhen Technical Director, EDF, ZHANG Donghu, Deputy Chief Engineer, China Institute of Atomic Energy Jean-Dominique BARBAT, China Senior Representative, AREVA Back-End Business Group, WANG Baozhong, Vice President, China Firstheavy Industries,LIU Zhiying, Deputy Chief Engineer, China National Erzhong Group Co., JIANG Dajin, General Manager, Yangjiang Nuclear Co.,Ltd,China Guangdong Nuclear Group, CHEN Guocai, Deputy General Manager, CNNC Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Co.,LTD, DU Ning, Technical Support of Fire Protection Products, Akzo Nobel Protective Coatings (Suzhou) Company, Li Shuang, Nuclear leader CSM/Department Manager, DNV, LI Qiang, Deputy Manager of Design and Control Department, Shandong Nuclear Power Company Ltd. discussed on the planning of China nuclear power plants construction, the process facilities of China nuclear power plants and nuclear power reactor technology.
“In terms of project construction, we can form a joint project management team, not necessarily a joint venture” said a source from CGNPC familiar with the situation. “In fact, we may very likely each build our own demonstration projects for this technology, just like CNNC in Fuqing and CGNPC in Fangchenggang. The development model is not going to be too different,” he added.
In May, this news service reported that CNNC and CGNPC were in talks regarding co-founding a research institute focused on NPP technology development, with each party holding a 50% stake.
“CNNC and CGNPC have always been in talks with each other for technology cooperation. The two parties have been working very hard towards this direction ‘of unifying NPP technologies’”, said Xin Tianmin, CNNC’s Deputy Chief Engineer of ACP1000. Xin noted that it is still too early to consider any joint-venture plans, or to discuss the possibility of China exporting NPP technology to Pakistan. Another person familiar with the situation from Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI) said that the technology merger might take longer time than expected, as the two parties have little economic incentive to form the alliance.
CHAI Guohan, Chief Engineer, Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center Ministry of Environmental Protection, introduced the security target and the new development about the nuclear situation in our country.” We should conclude the experiences from Fukushima nuclear accident, strengthen the defense of external accident.”
Noppen would like to express special thanks to all 8th Annual China Nuclear Power Congress sponsors, supporters and attendees who came together to make this a very successful and informative event.
